Farm Credit Foundation for Agricultural Advancement 2023 Scholarship Program Terms & Conditions 

The Farm Credit Foundation for Agricultural Advancement will be awarding at least $100,000 in academic scholarships to mid-Atlantic area students planning to pursue a career in agriculture.

Eligibility Requirements: The Farm Credit Foundation For Agricultural Advancement 2023 Scholarship Program is offered by Farm Credit Foundation for Agricultural Advancement (the “Sponsor” or, “Foundation”) and is open to applicants (each, an “Applicant”) who are legal residents of the state of DELAWARE (DE), or the state of MARYLAND (MD), residing within the MD county of: Accomack, Baltimore, Caroline, Carroll, Cecil, Dorchester, Frederick, Harford, Howard, Kent, Montgomery, Northampton, Queen Anne’s, Somerset, Talbot, Washington, Wicomico, or Worcester; or the state of PENNSYLVANIA (PA); or the state of VIRGINIA (VA), residing within the VA county of: Clarke, Frederick, Page, Shenandoah, or Warren; the state of WEST VIRGINIA (WV), residing within the WV county of: Berkeley, Brooke, Hancock, Jefferson, Marshall, Morgan, or Ohio; or Washington, D.C., who are U.S. citizens and who are high school seniors or students currently enrolled in a two- or four-year educational program at an accredited college, university, or technical school. The applicant must be planning to pursue a career in agriculture. Officers, Directors, and employees of the Sponsor, Horizon Farm Credit, and their subsidiaries, affiliates, their agents, press/media representatives, and the immediate family members of these entities (spouse, parent, child, sibling and their respective spouses, regardless of where they reside) and/or those living in the same household of each, whether or not related, are not eligible to enter.

Awards: Up to ten (10) scholarships, valued at up to $10,000 each, will be awarded. The total amount of Scholarships to be awarded will be at least $100,000. 

The funds awarded to the selected recipients are to be used for one or more of the following: 

  • Tuition
  • Room and board
  • Textbooks or other academic learning materials
  • Costs associated with summer or winter classes (outside of the typical school year)
  • Study abroad opportunities administered through the student’s school, provided it is completed for credit toward graduation 

The funds awarded are not to be used for educational or professional conferences, or expenses associated with research work. Any funds not used by the student upon graduation are to be returned to the Foundation. 

Application Process: Applications will be accepted beginning Friday, September 23, 2022 through Friday, January 6, 2023 (the “Application Period”). During the Application Period, eligible Applicants are invited to visit FCFoundationforAg.org (the “Website”) and complete one of the online applications, depending on where the student will be attending school the following school year.

Follow the on-screen instructions to attach transcript(s) (if unofficial, official transcript(s) will be required before awarding of scholarship); and to attach two (2) letters of recommendation from a supervisor, teacher and/or professor nominating the Applicant for the Scholarship that (a) speaks to the Applicant’s potential to contribute to a profession in agriculture; and (b) explicitly states the Applicant’s current status as a student.

Notification: Applicants will be notified of selection decision no later than March 13, 2023.
